Full-Time Program
Jun/25/07 10:51 PM
Our full-time developmental program is a comprehensive, highly personalized, and systematic training program designed for students who are committed to pursuing collegiate or professional tennis careers. The goal of this program is to develop and maximize all aspects of the student’s game – technical, strategies, tactics, psychological (mental/emotional), and physical/athletic – with the intent of developing the skills needed to help each student reach their full potential as a player. Francisco Montana personally directs this program and will work closely with each player and the coaching staff.
The full-time program consists of 4 hours of tennis and one hour of physical training per day, Monday through Friday with options for additional training and/or private lessons. Players and parents can expect the following from this program.
- Tennis Blue Print-(TBP) Our TBP will be developed within a month of students arrival. The purpose of pthis is to evaluate what a player already does well and to get a better feel of his or her own weaknesses. The TBP addresses technical issues, movement and a proper periodization schedule. Like any good "business plan", the TBP is analyzed regularly to assure accurate implementation.
- Doubles Strategy & Tactics- With the current ranking systems (USTA & ITF) taking doubles into account, FMT believes that learning how to play doubles properly will not only add variety to your game but will also address the use of angles, strategy, and tactics in a fun and easy to learn method. Doubles will allow players to see the need to continually develop all facets of their games and to not be content by simply having a big serve or forehand.
- Physical Conditioning/Footwork- Proper conditioning is the backbone to any great athlete. Lack of preparation and fatigue should never be the reason that one ends up being the inferior player on any given day. With that being said, FMT uses certified trainers to assess any "trouble spots" to make sure all of our athletes are strengthening their core and shoulders to remain as injury-free as possible. Furthermore, all of our tennis players are well-versed in understanding how to move efficiently while playing and to minimize the available "openings" in any point.
- Supervised Match Play- FMT has witnessed matches at the highest levels for several decades and understands the value in sharing the knowledge he has attained over the years with his players. On a regular basis, players are observed and videotaped to help them "learn by seeing themselves in action." With so many matches being decided by so little, we feel it is of utmost importance that every player maximize their potential by having regular discussions on the pros and cons of any point sequence.
- Tournament Scheduling- With so many events going on a weekly basis throughout the world, FMT believes that there is a proper way to schedule one's year so that every attainable goal is reached. FMT believes that if a player solely "chases points" that he/she will ultimately hinder their development and undermine what they work so hard to earn.
